If you’re a beginner and need advice on beginning beekeeping, we can help.  We proudly offer Langstroth beehives with bees, which is the most common hive body in the world.  We locally design our bee hives with premium wood from New Zealand.  Each hive component is manufactured with a focus on value and quality craftsmanship.  A Langstroth hive allows beekeepers to utilize the science of beekeeping.

This pack includes a brand new double-box 10-frame beehive + bees only in the first box. The second box has frames and foundations but no bees.

The hive is at 70%-80% capacity to avoid swarming.

Having a full hive means more engagement in beekeeping, more time with bees, and more experience. Depending on the time of purchase, it would be ready for either a split or putting the super box on top for future honey harvest. If it is at the end of the beekeeping season, you should prepare the hive for winter.

The 10-frame two Story Bee Hive is made with New Zealand pine and comes assembled and painted for your convenience. This beehive is enough to get you going with your bees for years. Once the honey flow starts, add the second/super boxes and wait for the bees to make and store some honey.

All of the frames in our bee hives are plastic foundations triple waxed one-piece frames. These frames/foundations have the heaviest coating of 100% Australian beeswax available on the market. The heavier coating of wax helps promote the bees' acceptance, and the fresh, natural aroma of the wax helps encourage the bees to start working on it. Your choice of all-natural yellow, like beeswax, or black deep.

Why settle for less?

Please note: The difference in colors has nothing to do with the bees' acceptance; it all has to do with the preference of each beekeeper. The black foundation makes it easy to find out if your queen is alive and laying well: it is easy to see the small white eggs against the black background, so you don't have to see your queen to know that you have one. It also makes it easier to tell if you have a drone layer. The yellow foundation is more like actual beeswax, suitable for the second/super box where honey is stored.

This is the ultimate bee hive. This is the bee hive we use ourselves in our apiaries

Our 10-frame bee hive includes Two full-size brood/super boxes, a queen excluder, a lid, a mesh + drawer bottom board, 20 full-size assembled frames, and 20 plastic foundations (black coated with fresh Australian wax. It is assembled & painted and ready to go.

Why 10 frames?

We do not suggest 8 frames because one 8-frame brood box does not provide enough room for the queen to lay eggs which increases the tendency of swarming. To solve the problem you have to go with 2 brood box configuration which makes the inspections and overall beekeeping way more difficult for both beginners and professionals. A 10-frame brood box tackles both issues.

Why mesh + drawer bottom board?

Improved Ventilation

Screened bottom boards provide better airflow within the hive. This increased ventilation helps in regulating the temperature and humidity levels, creating a more comfortable environment for the bees. During hot summer months, this can be particularly beneficial in preventing overheating.

Pest Control

The mesh design allows mites and other small pests to fall through the screen and out of the hive. This natural pest control method can reduce the reliance on chemical treatments, leading to a healthier and more organic hive.

Monitoring and Maintenance

With a screened bottom board, beekeepers can easily monitor the debris that falls through the screen. This can provide valuable insights into the hive's health and activity. Additionally, cleaning and maintenance become more straightforward, as debris doesn't accumulate on a solid surface.

Increased Honey Production

Some beekeepers have reported increased honey production with the use of screened bottom boards. The improved living conditions and reduced stress on the bees may contribute to this enhanced productivity.

The boxes and frames are assembled professionally with screws and nails and wood glue.

The bottom board is mesh + drawer
